Sing to the Lord!

08 Jan

Living at Sacred Heart Parish we see and hear how people get involved in worship for the Sunday Masses. Everyday we hear a choir practice from different groups, the children, youth, or adults. Choir practices is very important, they usually last a few hours and so do the Masses.

Last Sunday we attended Mass in the Bishop’s chapel and a new choir was introduced, the first ever men’s chorale. After Mass, the Bishop invited the members of the choir, their sponsors, families and us to his house for a reception.

Praise the Lord! I cannot help but notice how well dressed these young people are. The Haitian people take a real pride in their appearance. The young men with their shirts and ties, the young ladies in their dresses…they know that they are presenting themselves to the King of King and Lord of Lords!

Dear Sister Marilyn and Sister Inga, I am thankful that God permits you to share your daily life in Haiti with us via the blog. It’s a wonderful way to keep us connected and enable us also to grow as a result of this Felician missionary presence. January 12th is the anniversary of the earthquake. Here locally we will remember students from Lynn University, including the young daughter of friends, who was there on a missionary trip during winter break. Her name is Christine. I am sure that being there among the Haitian people on this anniversary will be a special grace for you two. You both remain in my prayers.

    Always your sister,
    Lisa Burke — NJ
