And let there be light…

Finally, we got our electricity, using the generator. We also have solar lamps that light the property. Soon we will be using our solar-powered inverter for our electricity. We are getting closer to actually moving in and setting everything up for the mission to continue again. The following prayer has become so real in our lives…

Patient Trust

Above all, trust in the slow work of God.

We are quite naturally impatient in everything,

to reach the end without delay.

We should like to skip the intermediate stages.

We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new.

And yet it is the law of all progress

that it is made by passing through

some stages of instability—

and that it may take a very long time.

And so I think it is with you;

your ideas mature gradually—let them grow,

let them shape themselves, without undue haste.

Don’t try to force them on,

as though you could be today what time

(that is to say, grace and circumstances

acting on your own good will)

will make of you tomorrow.

Only God could say what this new spirit

gradually forming within you will be.

Give Our Lord the benefit of believing

that his hand is leading you,

and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself

in suspense and incomplete.

“After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. Genesis 32:23

This text from Genesis has never been so true for us. For the past two weeks, we have been sending over our furniture and other boxes in preparation for the move into our new home and mission complex.

Two weeks ago, on February 4, we started to bring over our things with the help of Mike and Eric and our teenage boys and girls. The second week, our friend Dr. Jean-Paul Bonet came with his son, Ethan. We are blessed, but are still waiting for the big day of moving into our new home.

Let your light shine 💫

On February 1, the day before returning to Haiti, we were invited to St. Leo’s School in Elmwood Park, NJ, to share the Felician Haiti Mission. The whole school gathered in the gym. At the end of the presentation, we sang “This Little Light of Mine.” Sr. Marilyn promised everyone that our kids in Jacmel would make a video for them, sung in Creole.

Sharing the Felician Haiti Mission in New Jersey

From January 27-February 1, we were real pilgrims sharing the Felician Haiti Mission with God’s people.

January 28-29, we were invited to St. Gabriel’s Parish in Saddle River, New Jersey. Rev. Msgr. Frank Del Prete, pastor, warmly welcomed us.

On January 30-31, the Blessed Mary Angela Institute for Contemplation, Action, and Transformation hosted two sessions at Felician University, “Reaching Out to Our Brothers and Sisters in Haiti.” We shared our five-year experience of ministering to the people of Jacmel, Haiti, with member of the board, administration, faculty, staff and students of Felician University, Lodi, NJ.
