Today, June 30, we celebrated Sr. Marilyn’s birthday and feast day. We had many friends and our students come to visit us. Yvon and Gracias, our friends from Port au Prince, took us for lunch to a place we did not know existed in Jacmel. Yesterday we had made cupcakes to share with all! The pictures show only some of our visitors who had come throughout the day. We ended the day with prayer and adoration in thanksgiving for the gift of life.

Today, Sr. Janet, SC, who works at the University of Notre Dame Nursing Program in Jacmel, returned to live with us. In the photo, from left to right, are Sr. Dianne, Sr. Janet, Fr. Contant, and Sr. Elizabeth. May God bless Sr. Janet!

Today, for the first time, we used the chalice and paten, altar cloth and other liturgical items that belonged to Fr. Jerzy Dziurzyński, Sister Inga’s dear friend who died in January. We believe Fr. Jerzy is rejoicing with the priests in Haiti at each Celebration of the Eucharist.

Today we went to the market to buy corn, rice and beans for our food program for the kids.

Remember a few weeks ago we had a blog telling you about St. Michael’s Church being demolished because it was damaged from the earthquake and was not repairable? Today the demolition was completed. Let us pray for the parish family of St. Michael, that they soon have a church building once again.

We received handmade dresses especially made by women in the States for our girls. The beautiful dresses made our girls very happy.

It took only one month…

Our Lady of Perpetual Help is the patroness of Haiti. Today we prayed for its leaders, and especially for the poor and those who are still without homes and are hungry everyday. Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.

On Tuesday, June 25, we arrived in Jacmel to be welcomed back by all our kids. Our young friends also helped us clean our house, which had become very dusty from being locked up for over a month..
