For the past few weeks, we have been experiencing heavy rains in Jacmel. Last night, we had a particularly severe storm, accompanied by lightning and thunder. At one point, we heard a loud strike and knew that something had been hit, but we weren’t sure what.
This morning, we discovered that lightning had struck the tree beside our computer lab! Thanks be to God, the mobile clinic parked right next to the tree was unharmed.
God is good, and we are grateful for His protection! 🙏
On Friday evening, October 9, we gathered in our chapel to commemorate the anniversary of the death of our foundress, Blessed Mary Angela. Her light continues to shine throughout the world through her daughters, Associates, and lay partners, who carry forward her spirit of love, service, and compassion.
On Saturday, October 10, at 5:00 p.m., all our employees gathered to celebrate the Eucharist in memory of Blessed Mary Angela. We were blessed to have Father James Pierre preside at the celebration. It was especially meaningful to welcome him, as we had accompanied him throughout his seminary formation and journey to ordination.
Many of our employees have been walking alongside us since they were young teenagers, growing with us in faith and service over the years. Others, including the staff of the Mother Angela Clinic, have been part of our mission since the clinic opened 12 years ago. These enduring relationships are a beautiful witness to the spirit of accompaniment that lies at the heart of our mission.
Through these years of shared commitment, accompaniment, sustainability, and empowerment continue to take root and flourish in the Felician Haiti Mission. Together, we strive to live the charism of Blessed Mary Angela by bringing hope, dignity, and compassionate care to those we serve.
As we celebrate our foundress, we renew our commitment to follow her example and keep her spirit alive in all that we do.
“Blessed Angela, your light we want to be… With your love and your zeal, enflame our hearts, and with joy we will always serve the Lord!”
These past three days have been like a living novena in preparation for the feast of Blessed Mary Angela, our foundress. Her love of God, her desire to do His will, and her compassion for the poor and marginalized were reflected in all that took place.
As we unpacked the container and distributed beds, desks, and furniture to those in need, we witnessed the power of a community coming together. Truly, it took a village! From those in Lodi who packed the container, to the company that shipped it, the broker, Marmara, who assisted with many translations, the priests here and in Port-au-Prince, and all our staff who were ready to serve wherever needed, everyone played an important part.
Even the placement of the container was made possible by a local family in Jacmel who responded immediately, providing the equipment and workers needed. Each person’s contribution was a blessing, and together we witnessed God at work in so many ways.
As we prepare to celebrate our foundress, we are reminded of the words of Scripture: “Yes, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11:28)
What a beautiful way to honor Blessed Mary Angela’s legacy—by putting our faith into action and serving our brothers and sisters in need.

On Friday, October 2 at 5 p.m. our teens in the mission experienced Jesus’ mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. After we had an agape celebration of forgiveness with cake and soda.
