A Living Novena: Faith in Action and God at Work

10 Oct

These past three days have been like a living novena in preparation for the feast of Blessed Mary Angela, our foundress. Her love of God, her desire to do His will, and her compassion for the poor and marginalized were reflected in all that took place.

As we unpacked the container and distributed beds, desks, and furniture to those in need, we witnessed the power of a community coming together. Truly, it took a village! From those in Lodi who packed the container, to the company that shipped it, the broker, Marmara, who assisted with many translations, the priests here and in Port-au-Prince, and all our staff who were ready to serve wherever needed, everyone played an important part.

Even the placement of the container was made possible by a local family in Jacmel who responded immediately, providing the equipment and workers needed. Each person’s contribution was a blessing, and together we witnessed God at work in so many ways.

As we prepare to celebrate our foundress, we are reminded of the words of Scripture: “Yes, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11:28)

What a beautiful way to honor Blessed Mary Angela’s legacy—by putting our faith into action and serving our brothers and sisters in need.
