By the looks of these photos, it seems so simple to have our kids get back to school. Colorful uniforms, with pretty ribbons and barrettes in their hair, do not show the real situation that each of these kids has to face. Everyone in Haiti has to pay to go to school. They need to have money to pay for tuition, a uniform, shoes, books, back pack and school supplies. Each of these is very expensive. Everyday we have people coming to our door, asking for these items and for help to pay for their child to go to school. We are helping “our” families, those whose homes we have visited and we know their individual situations. We have heard that the President of Haiti is having some of the National Schools open free for the poor. We have not yet seen that happen here in Jacmel.
