A beautiful tradition we have here in the mission is the crowning of the Blessed Mother during the month of May. On Monday, May 9, our young people preparing for the sacraments gathered to pay honor to Mary, the Mother of God!

Preparing to pray the rosary for peace in Haiti and the Ukraine.

On Sunday, May 8, a new member was added to our Felician Mission. Meet Frankey…

Frankey is part Chow Chow and part Rottweiler. He will be a good watch dog for us. He is already listening and obedient in some things but, especially, he is potty trained.

The power of God’s grace showers upon the Felician Haiti Mission sewing school. A new class shows us the need for such a skill as we welcome 17 participants. We had to turn people away because of lack of space and room! But this is a good thing and a good sign from God! Sr. Izzy and Sr. Julitta, together with Junior, their assistant, are doing great things as they open doors for others!

On Good Friday, it is a tradition in the city of Jacmel that all people gather to walk the Way of the Cross. We joined God’s people to share the sufferings of this world and to remember Christ’s passion and love for the world!

During Holy Week, our new kids who are participating in our Faith Formation Program in preparation for Baptism and Communion, experienced walking with Jesus His last days.

The kids experienced a pilgrimage of faith walking with Jesus and his disciples. On Good Friday, they would participate in the Way of the Cross when the whole city of Jacmel walks together!
On Sunday, April 10, our doors were opened to begin Holy Week. Every year, the blessing of palms and the procession begin here with Bishop Errick Toussaint. In the Mass, we recognize that Jesus’ full glory and kingship would only come about when He was lifted up. Our greatest sorrow and shame is our great relief—the cross. Jesus’ experience of being loved and hated, of being welcomed and then rejected, provide us strength to endure the caprices and injustices of our own lives.

On Saturday, April 9, we welcomed Dr. Jean Paul Bonnet and Hubert to the Felician Haiti Mission. We were so happy to see them and to show the progress of the bakery and the wells that Dr. Bonnet has donated to the Mission, the school, and Cayes Jacmel. He had a busy schedule for the two days they were with us.
We first had a business meeting to share our business plan, as well as the budget. Then it was time for a visit to the bakery site to see the progress.

In the late afternoon, we met with Bishop Erick Glandas, Fr. Bertrand, and Fr. Maurice (who lives on the property where the bakery will be).
The next day, we met again to write the Mission, Vision and Values statements, as well as to work on the budget. After dinner, we went back to the bakery site to do some measuring of doors and windows in order to be sure equipment could pass through doors. We also checked where to place showcases and shelves for bread.
