About Felician Mission: Haiti

Praise the Lord! We thank our God for everyone who has prayed for and supported our efforts as we continue our journey in Jacmel, Haiti. We have been here since 2012 and so many good things have happened that we wanted to share a few stories with you! We live among the marginalized and those living in poverty, accompanying them through the challenges and celebrating the joys of life. Join us on our journey and please keep us in your prayers as we keep you in our prayers.

Christmas Day celebration with the Felician Sisters

Our annual Christmas party began on December 25 at 11 a.m. Our children came in their best outfits, ready to celebrate and to come and adore the newborn King.

Decorations were made by the teens and kids the day before!
Teens were getting ready for the pageant, as we always begin the Birth of Jesus by telling of His coming into the world.
Baby Jesus this year was our neighbor! Even though she started to cry, she was a blessing! Yes, Jesus was a baby girl.
Teens served the children their festive dinner and homemade Christmas cookies.

We made it through the day, giving every child a gift.

One of the barrels contained over 150 of the Felician Sisters coffee mugs, and every kid received one with candy inside.

We thank every one for making this Christmas Day so festive with gifts and, especially, our festive dinner that included soda for the kids!!! We all say mesi anpil!

We even sang in Polish!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Haiti

We have a greater understanding of what it means to Prepare the Way for the Lord! We are so blest to have our Youth and Young Adult team as assisting in the various ways we need to prepare for Christmas.

Now remember, we can only see these beautiful lights when we have electricity from the city. Come Lord, Jesus!

Annette works with children who are preparing for Baptism and Communion. Here they are learning their prayers.
James, our seminarian, works with our teens who are in the RCIA program.

Sr. Marilyn works with teens who are preparing for Confirmation.

Sr. Inga organizes the program and prepares the catechists for each class. Our children come from the poorest families in the Cathedral parish. They come to Mass every Sunday and sit together with us.

Embracing the core values of the Felician Mission!

You may have met Annette from seeing her on our blogs. She is a young woman who lives with us and shares in the Felician Mission. Annette works with all the young mothers who come to us every month, looking for assistance. About two weeks ago, we worked together to create a nourishing supplement to give them for their children and their babies. This concoction was shared with us by the sisters in Brazil who use it for those who live in the Amazon. It is made of seeds and nuts and corn meal.

We prepared packages for the mothers. Annette meets with them on the first Friday of of the month. On November 29, she gathered over 50 mothers. She began with a spiritual reflection, explaining the necessity of asking for God’s care and support. She also reflected on the meaning of preparing for the Lord’s coming in our lives. Annette truly embraces the core values of the Felician Sisters!
